Claire Fayers writes comic fantasy for children, and has a strong interest in Welsh folklore.

Her first book, THE VOYAGE TO MAGICAL NORTH, came about quite accidentally after she won a writing competition and went on to debut as Waterstones Children’s Book of the Month and was shortlisted for the FCBG Children’s Book Award. Claire’s other books include THE JOURNEY TO DRAGON ISLAND, MIRROR MAGIC, Tir ng n’Og winner STORM HOUND (Macmillan), and WELSH FAIRY TALES, MYTHS AND LEGENDS (Scholastic), which was nominated for the Carnegie Medal. Her sci-fi fantasy, TAPPER WATSON AND THE QUEST FOR THE NEMO MACHINE was the Independent Bookshops Book of the Month, and WELSH GIANTS, GHOSTS AND GOBLINS was Waterstones’ Welsh Book of the Year.

When not writing, Claire has a busy schedule of events, teaching creative writing and folklore to children and adults.
